Camping at Shi Shi Beach

November 20, 2016

I finally developed some film from this summer! There’s something so warm and satisfying about film photos, they are untouched, unfiltered, just simple. Also, I would highly recommend Shi Shi beach, it’s an easy hike in, and you camp right on the beach.

Amy & Henry’s Ballard Loft

February 18, 2016

I had the privilege of shooting my friend and coworker’s beautiful space a few weeks back. I spent about half the time asking her where she bought everything, and even ended up commandeering a lamp and a plant! The space was so lovely, and so thoughtful, not to mention that patio?!

Mt Baker : NYE

January 23, 2016

We spent our New Years Eve at Mt. Baker, away from the packed bars and $13 cocktails, and I couldn’t have been happier. We snowshoed up to Artist Point, making it to the top just as the sun crept below the ridge. I cannot recommend this hike enough, it’s pretty steep in parts, but the payoff is well worth it.

Honeymoon Part 3: Sevilla

January 8, 2016

We sort of stumbled upon Sevilla, which is sort of ridiculous thing to say as it’s a major destination with a lot of history, and a lot to see, but that was sort of the theme of the entire trip. We were only in town for a few days, but it left plenty of time to wander around the Seville Cathedral and Santa Cruz neighborhood.

Honeymoon part 2 : Salema, Portugal

December 4, 2015

After Lisbon we headed to the southern coast of Portugal. Initially we landed in Luz, which is about 30 minutes away. It was fine, but we were in the mood for something much more secluded and small. Salema turned out to be just the place, a small town that used to be a fishing village, though tourism has pushed that to the wayside. Still, fishermen actually do still fish here (novel concept) and the boats are beached at the end of the cove, where cats wanted around looking for bait scraps. We didn’t have a plan, or anything booked (like everywhere we went) but Salema welcomed us with open arms. After getting a quick bite we wandered up the street until w

e found a ‘Quartos’ sign, which lead us to a small market. The guy running the market called his friend up the street, and just like that we had a little room with a balcony and a view for $30/night. We would actually come to see him quite often, as not only did most lunches include a stop at his store for can sardines and wine, but we ran into him and his brothers (one being the innkeeper, one being the restaurant owner of the place we just ate) at a Karaoke bar one night, and shared several rounds of ‘small beers’.

Aside from the amazing food we ate (squid ink pasta, cataplana) in Salema, we ventured to a nearby town for a ‘seafood festival’ and got to try some perceives (also known as goose barnacles,or dinosaur toes) which were absolutely amazing. Our limited spanish and lack of on-the-spot-metric-translation ended us up with a giant plate full, and we easily ate every last one.

Moral of this story, we will be back to Salema someday, for sure.

Honeymoon Part 1 : Lisbon

November 20, 2015

I finally have some photos to share! We were only in Lisbon 3 days, and it wasn’t nearly enough time. The city has a strong divide between tourist area and everywhere else, but that’s to be said of any major city I suppose. We stayed in Alfama, notably the most touristy area, but for good reason; it’s insanely beautiful. The long windy cobblestone streets overlook the city and the Tagus river, it was really quite the perfect introduction to our trip.

Our Wedding

November 9, 2015

This day, oh this day. I don’t think I’ve ever been happier than I was on that overcast day in August. Our wedding was so much fun, I want to do it all over again. There were so, so, so, many special moments, and the work our friends and family did to make this day amazing was just beyond what I could have hoped for. We were luck enough to have an extremely talented friend of mine, Dacia Pierson, photographing the day, and her photos are just absolutely amazing. I have SO many to pick from, it’s sort of insane, but here are some of my favorites.

Mushroom Hunting

October 28, 2015

A few photos from our attempt to forage for chanterelles last weekend. Yes, attempt, we found all of two, but it was still a good excuse to tromp around in the woods and take pictures.

A few snippets from our trip

October 21, 2015

I’m beginning the long, long, process of going through all our honeymoon photos, but in the meantime here is a teaser, a few photos from Will’s camera, most all of which are taken by him.

Currently Coveting: Pretty Hardware

October 20, 2015

With the kitchen remodel back on the radar, I’m finding myself back to focusing on the little fun details, because they are afterall, the most fun. Turns out I’m still on the brass bandwagon, but I’ve added a new material into the mix; leather. I’m not 100% convinced that leather is the best idea in the kitchen, but I’m entertaining the idea…

Instagram did not return a 200.

FUN FACT

As a child I was 100% sure I would be an astronaut. Now I just watch lots of space movies.
